Whether you’re a restaurant owner/manager for the first time or someone who’s had employees for years, being an employer comes with many responsibilities. L&I can help, and EDC is inviting you to an online workshop and discussion on L&I Essentials for Business, taking place at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February 8. 

This free workshop for restaurants covers requirements and resources related to wage and hour laws, workers’ compensation insurance, workplace safety, and more. With all the regulatory changes that happened in recent years, even experienced employers, payroll, and HR staff will gain important updates. 

L&I speakers will present, and participants will have time to ask questions. 

  • Bob Joy, an Outreach Specialist with L&I’s Employment Standards Program, will address workplace rights, including wages, overtime, tips, breaks, paid sick leave, etc. 
  • Larry Oman, an Industrial Hygiene Consultant with L&I’s Division of Occupational Safety & Health, will address appropriate strategies for injury and illness prevention.
